Thanksgiving

Well, another successful Thanksgiving is in the history books. We had a blast fellowshipping and eating with about 22 family and friends. God is good!! Even the ribbing about the Clemson/South Carolina game was good. All in fun, right Terri? Do you know what mass confusion is? Two dogs only a year old - Bailey and Maggie, and four children under the age of twelve - Christina, Matthew, Kirsten and Thomas. I don't think I have ever played Duck, Duck, Goose when I have laughed so hard. Who was the chubby duck?

To Blog or Not To Blog

Well, Melanie has done a great job with my blog. I am very impressed. I think this would be fun if I could keep up with adding some wise thoughts every now and then but anyone who knows me knows I'm a blonde so wise thoughts don't come too often. Melanie gave me a digital camera for Christmas last year and I love it! I take lots of pictures of the dog. But, I never print them. I download them to the computer so I can email them and then I download them to my external hard drive. This is a great venue for my works of art (as you can see from the ones posted!) Just to whet your appetite I will have to add some of Bailey and Maggie's birthday cake.

A Whale of a Good Time

This posting is a little past due, but better late than never.
These are some pictures taken back in September when Mom and Dad came up to Boston for the Clemson vs. BC game (disaster).

When they were in town, we took a day and drove about one hour north to the town of Gloucester, MA to go whale watching.

(They used some buildings and parts of the town in the movie "A Perfect Storm.")

Here we are boarding the boat to go out and find the whales.

When we finally did find the whales, this one kept "playing" with our boat. This picture doesn't really do justice to how big this animal actually is, but you can definitely see how close it came to our boat. It was pretty incredible.

Mom took this picture. Talk about good timing. It was hard to catch these guys breaking out of the water.

HashBrown Casserole

Once again, I can never keep things in a safe place. And supposing I do find a "safe place," I can never remember where that safe place is exactly. That is the beauty of the computer, and the internet in particular. Can't find something? Google it!

Well, unfortunately, family recipes are often misplaced... and a defining characteristic of such recipes, they are "secret." Therefore, you can't just "Google" a solution when you are craving some Chicken and Wild Rice or Grandaddy Nick's BBQ Sauce.

My answer to this problem... the Blog. Post the recipes here and you can always find them when you need them.

Tonights Recipe of Choice: HashBrown Casserole

2lbs. Frozen Hash browns (1 large bag - partially thawed)
1/4 cup melted butter/margarine
1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Pepper
1 can Cream of Chicken Soup
12 oz. Sour Cream
1 and 1/2 cups Shredded Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese
1/2 cup Chopped Onions (optional)
Topping:
1 cup crushed corn flakes
1/4 cup melted butter/margarine

Mix all the ingredients together (minus the "topping"). Put in a 9X13 casserole dish. Mix melted margarine with corn flakes and sprinkle on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
MMMMMMMMMMM!

In case you were wondering, this posting was inspired by the fact that I cannot find my copy of the Apple Sauce Cake recipe. I would have to loved to have posted that one, but...

Let The Blogging Begin

This is Melanie... posing as Debbie. Trying to get this blog up and running.
Let's see if it works. :-)
